From OMAN Nov. 1998: It has been a long time since have contacted you but I can now confirm that last week we deployed ten balls near Fahal Island. Last week, 5 balls were put in their designated position as part of a 1st Class divers exam involving divers from several ME Countries. The work
involved floating the balls from 17 M water depth (in a sandy area where they deployed by a barge) across a range of coral to an area were coral was destroyed some time ago in 6 M water depth. Next we will move the remaining 5 ballls. Ten balls will be deployed every three months to evaluate the effect of seasonality. The divers who participated from Bahrain were very impressed and want to start a reef ball project of their own.
